Many of my posts on Instagram have been blocked since I began sharing information about Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza. Never have I had any posts, or comments blocked or removed prior to October 7th, 2023. I have always felt uneasy about Israel’s occupation of Palestine, and spoken about this with friends from Israel and the Arab world. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York introduced me to people from every corner of the world.

Our neighbors across the street were from Lebanon. More than one store I frequented as a child was owned by Yemenis. Attending public school in New York City meant that I had Jewish teachers from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I also have friends who are Jewish that I met at work and school. I remember feeling awkward once working on a movie set. The crew was on meal break and a news report came on the television while we were watching a football game.

The report was about Israel’s bombing of Beirut, Lebanon. The director was Israeli. One of the lighting crew was Lebanese. They’re were both friends of mine. The Lebanese friend had family in Lebanon at the time. The report suggested that there were many casualties. Moe, the Lebanese crew member was worried, but unable to contact his family. The entire cast and crew were quiet and uneasy for the rest of the break.

I share this to communicate my understanding that there should be no blanket statements on who are villains, or victims. There must always be truth, regardless of who is exposed by it. The fact that Israel can have corporate media slanted to benefit its false narratives is a disgrace. Multi- national corporations are controlled in whole or part by people who favor Israel, and this makes the information from corporate-owned outlets like NBC, CNN, and the New York Times unreliable. In fact, they publish propaganda. I’ll share some of the comments I posted to my account on Instagram that were removed, or blocked. None of my comments or posts featured profanity, threats, spam, or hate speech. The content was clearly not favored by reviewers at Meta, so it was removed.

Recently, posts that I uploaded to Instagram of Gofundme campaigns were blocked. I posted several from people currently in Gaza with their families. They are looking for help to escape the bombardment and starvation imposed by Israel. There appears to be an agenda by Meta to hide or remove any content that humanizes Palestinian people suffering under occupation and genocidal attack.
